"I've struggled with PTSD for the past 2 years after the most horrific call of my fire service career. I was first on scene of a vehicle vs. pedestrian only to find that the pedestrian was my younger brother. He didn't survive. In the weeks and months that followed, I sought out anything that would help me cope; psychotherapy, medications, group therapy, alcohol, and natural remedies. It was suggested to me to try acupuncture as another avenue of healing. I was willing to try anything after struggling to sleep and generally function for months. After consulting with Dr. Kelly, I had my first session. Being that Dr. Kelly is a former Firefighter, we had a lot of common ground and understanding of the job. I started feeling immediate results after my first session. I slept like a baby that night and started to feel better mentally and emotionally. I'll admit, I was skeptical at first but in such a deep and dark hole, I knew I needed to try something different. I'm doing better today and continue my acupuncture therapy on a regular basis. To my fellow First Responders: We work a hard job and see horrible things every day. You don't have to suffer in silence. Try different avenues to help clear your head. There's no shame in seeking help. Acupuncture has helped me, maybe it can help you. But you won't know until you take that first step."
I am 55 years and have suffered from chronic back pain centered under and along my left shoulder blade for so long I have forgotten when it started. I am sure the pain and how it has increased over the years can be attributed to wear and tear. Eighteen years of baseball, traumatic injury to my left arm while serving in the military, along with a life time of paddling a surfboard in and out of the surf doomed me to a life of managing pain.
I have tried everything from deep tissue massage to medication (natural and pharmaceutical), all of this without any true pain relief.
I had reluctantly accepted the reality that I would just have to learn to live with the pain. Then Nikki Kelly offered to treat my symptoms with acupuncture. I had toyed with the idea in the past, but never seemed to find the time to look into treatment.
We scheduled an appointment and after a brief review of my symptoms and medical history Nikki began the acupuncture treatment. I wouldn't say I was skeptical, but after years of other ineffective methods of treatment I wasn't expecting what would happen next. The treatment was painless and pretty much uneventful. Initially there was a minor lessening of the pain but nothing dramatic. I woke up the next morning and was excited to realize that my back wasn't stiff or achey.
I told Nikki that I felt great (and I did) and promptly got in my car for a nine hour drive, fully expecting my back to be a mess by the time I arrived home. I made it home pain free and am still pain free four months later. Four months and still no pain!!!
This has been a life changing experience and an educational journey wrapped in one. I will continue to seek further treatment from Nikki Kelly, but I can tell you that it won't be because my back is aching. Now let's see what she can do for my tinnitus.
Thank you Nikki for changing my life for the better.
